Plans to strengthen Japan - Sri Lanka bilateral relations

Sri Lanka and Japan should make plans based on the historical bilateral relations to work closely in the future and it is their intention to assist development activities of Sri Lanka, said the President of Japan Sri Lanka Parliamentary Friendship Association Wataru Takeshita.

During the lunch hosted by his association to the visiting Sri Lanka Prime Minister and his delegation, Mr. Takeshita further assured that his association will take all steps to strengthen the ties between the two countries as well as the Parliaments of the two countries.

Participating on this occasion, Mrs. Yuko Obuchi, the Secretary General and other key officials of the Association also assured their fullest support to Sri Lanka.

Prime Minister Wickremesinghe while emphasizing the importance of the discussions held with the Japan Sri Lanka Parliamentary Friendship Association at a time the Sri Lanka Parliament is completing 70 years, appreciated the support extended by the Parliamentary Friendship Association since the time of former Prime Minister Obuchi.

Prime Minister also extended an invitation to the Japan Sri Lanka Parliamentary Friendship Association to visit Sri Lanka in the near future.
