Pokémon go , augmented reality mobile game by Niantic for Android and iOs devices has become a global phenomenon. This exciting new mobile game was released in selected countries in July 2016. In the game, players use a mobile device's GPS capability to locate, capture, battle, and train virtual creatures, called Pokémon , who appear on the screen as if they were in the same real world location as the player.

The original Pokemon series was a cartoon with 151 creatures that had different powers and abilities and humans trying to catch each and every Pokémon and complete a list called Pokedex while battling each other with the captured Pokémon in Non-lethal Battles. The cartoon series has been adding different types of Pokémon with each generation providing sequels and prequels while completing a fascinating story about this mythical world which continues to this day.

Pokemon Go is the combination of fan favorite series Pokémon and the GPS based mobile game Ingress which was the unique idea at the time in mobile gaming. They creators have used the charming Pokémon to attract the die-hard fans as well as the younger generation unlike Ingress which had a small number of players compared Pokémon Go. The game Pokémon Go uses significant places called Poke stops or gyms and uses the other urban areas to spawn new creatures which you can catch. Poke stops are places which you can get free stuff for while Gyms are places you can fight your faction or any other to defeat the enemies or empower your own faction. Factions given after you reach level 5 are Teams Mystic, Valor or Mystic. The game uses an advanced method of rock - paper - Scissor; where Water>Fire , Fire>Grass and Grass>water. Then adding some other types like dragon, ice, fairy and many more to diversify the concept.

The most important thing for Sri Lankans is to know when will we be able to play this legally as Niantic has placed a geo ban in Sri lanka and some other countries. No official statement from Niantic about when we will have our chance to join this huge fan base but an Indian site has stated a rumor that the release may come as early Mid-august. whether it is true or not we will have to wait and see.

There is a reddit thread and the official Facebook page of Niantic to get updates while the petition is collecting supporters. So, if you a die-hard fan of this Pokémon fandom you might want to get a say in this petition.
