The inaugural event of the Professional Dialogue, which was organized to mark the 40th anniversary of the Urban Development Authority (UDA), was held under the patronage of President Maithripala Sirisena in Colombo, Tuesday (02nd).
UDA’s mission is to promote and to regulate the urban development process in order to facilitate the growth of the economy, protecting the natural and built heritage and improving the quality of life of all inhabitants.
At present, the Urban Development Authority has been able to make the largest contribution to the national economy from the construction field while maintaining a stable financial management based on good governance policies.
This Professional Dialogue was organized on the theme of the ‘The history of the past 40 years of Urban Development Authority, the present and future journey’. The panel comprise of Senior Urban Designer Prof. Willy Mendis, Prof. Indralal de Silva, Department of Demography, University of Colombo, Senior Lecturer Dr.L. Gunaruwan, the Department of Economics, , University of Colombo, Mr. Anushka Wijesinha, Advisor, Ministry of Development Strategies and International Trade and a Advisor to the U.R. in Singapore.
President Sirisena presented a memento to the Chairman of the Urban Development Authority Dr Jagath Munasinghe on behalf of the entire staff.The President also presented a memento to the Megapolis and Western Development Minister Patali Champika Ranawaka.A special memento also presented to the President.
Distinguished guests including the Sumeda Rathnayake, Director General of the Urban Development Authority and Land Reclamation and Development Corporation Chairman Roshan Gunawardena participated on this occasion.
