Development of infrastructure facilities at Four Universities

As it has been planned for the gradual increase of the intake of students to the State Universities, the Government has planned to increase the infrastructure facilities at the Rajarata, Colombo, Ruhuna and Eastern Universities in order to provide more qualitative infrastructure facilities for the students of these Universities.

 Accordingly, the proposal made by Hon. (Dr.) Wijayadasa Rajapaksa, the Minister of Higher Education & Cultural Affairs, for the development activities such as the construction of a Laboratory complex including Lecture halls for the Faculty of Agriculture of the Rajarata University, the construction of canteens at Mihintale Student Hostel Premises, the construction of Stage I of the New Arts building of the University of Colombo, the development of infrastructure facilities of the new Faculty of Healthcare Sciences at the Eastern University, the construction of Stage I of the Faculty of Allied Health Science building of the University of Ruhuna and the renovations at the main building premises of same, with an investment of Rs.3,690.42 million, was approved by the Cabinet.
