A delegation of the Sri Lanka Ex-Servicemen's Association met the Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Kapila Waidyaratne PC, yesterday (18th Sept.).
During the occasion, the General Secretary of the Association, Rear Admiral (Retd) S.R. Samaratunga pinned a Poppy Flower on the Secretary.
The Poppy Day is a memorial day observed in Commonwealth of Nations member states since the end of the first World War to commemorate the members of their armed forces who died in the line of duty. It was first observed in Britain on 11th November, 1921.
