Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake, Commander of the Army on Thursday (10th Aug.) paid separate courtesy calls on Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka and the Chief of Defense Staff (CDS) General Crisanthe De Silva at their respective offices.
During the courtesy meeting, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka, who also served as the Commander of the Army during 2005 - 2009, congratulated Lieutenant General Mahesh Senanayake on his new appointment and discussed matters related to the national security and other concerns. Mementoes were also exchanged to mark the occasion.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General Senanayake called on the newly-appointed Chief of Defense Staff (CDS), General Crisanthe De Silva who was also the Commander of the Army during 2015 - June 2017.
The Army Commander exchanged views on several issues of relevance and future prospects of the Army.
General Crisanthe De Silva extending his best wishes on Lieutenant General Senanayake’s new appointment shared a few thoughts on matters of relevance that arose during the former’s tenure of office. The cordial meeting culminated with exchange of mementos.
